Apache Junction is well known for its Apache Trail, the miner’s connection. In the late 19th century it was the main route from the multitude of mines in the superstition mountains to the Phoenix marketplace. It never really developed a downtown. Instead, it began to develop spread out along the Apache Trail. One of the oldest points of reference to the start of downtown was centered around the old Superstition Inn in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
